Glycation, an end process of sugar in the human body. Oxidation. Rusting. Disease and Aging.

We knew about sugar and other simple carbohydrates causing brain disease and complications of diabetes mellitus 15 years ago!

To make this clear:

At the wise geek:

http://www.wisegeek.org/what-is-glycation.htm

Glycation is a reaction that takes place when simple sugar molecules, such as fructose or glucose, become attached to proteins or lipid fats without the moderation of an enzyme. This results in the formation of rogue molecules known as advanced glycation endproducts (AGEs).

Large numbers of sugars in the body keep it from being used properly, which is for energy. When the sugars (carbohydrates) are not used property, they end up attaching themselves to other molecules in your blood like hemoglobin, LDL, HDL. Those fat or protein molecules are then ‘glycated’ (‘gly’ is a prefix that means sugar) and become rogue and when they attach themselves to other molecules, they cause deadly destructive molecules. The LDL and HDL that are glycated are the ones that actually cause heart disease. These end products are called AGE’s or advanced glycation end products. And this process is also called oxidation. Just like the rusting and destruction of metal. (Think about antioxidants.)

Those molecules, LDL molecules or HDL molecules in your blood stream that are NOT glycated (not AGE’s) are NOT heart disease or stroke causing fats! They are large fluffy molecules that carry fat to your brain and other cells. They are NECESSARY AND ABSOLUTLEY REQUIRED! And if they are too low, your brain suffers along with other processes in your body.

The AGE’s cause aging and the actual diseases of aging, Alzheimer’s Disease, heart disease and many other brain diseases. When the fat molecules (LDL, HDL) in our blood are glycated, our brains also do not receive the fat they need to function. It takes fat to think. Our brains are 70% fat. Without fat, our brain processes begin to not work.

Why haven’t we been told about this?

Can’t our scientists come to a good conclusion about this? Maybe simple carbs-sugar, starches- are like poison to us?

That’s what I think now. The more I read about this, the more it makes sense. Our great, great, great grandparents ate fat, lots of it. And simple sugar and flours were not as available nor cheap. And heart attacks were almost unheard of before 1900.

And dietary fat it seems does not cause an increase in cholesterol. Researchers have tried to make the connection but they have not been able to (hard to believe, I know This is new to me and I worked in cardiology and taught people how to eat to prevent heart disease 😱.)

Give more thought to eating fats, proteins and no sugar. Use only complex carbs: broccoli, cabbage, brussel sprouts, beans, cauliflower. Stay away from too much fruit, it’s all sugar with some fiber and nutrients. Occasional is the rule for fruit.

Do your own research.

Your health depends on it.

Love this article. More great information to take to heart and brain. It convinces me more than ever my grandparents were eating better that this era.

I cn always count on you, Pepper. Thanks for visiting and your likes and comments! I do hope these are of some value. I’ve learned quite a bit in the last 3 months about this stuff. And I had thought I knew most everything before…😇

        tannngl,

You sure are giving me tons of info I never thought about You must be doing tons of research on this. It shows.

Yes. Reading 2 books and doing research searches on what these docs are saying. checking the studies, making sure they aren’t skewing anything.
Our health is getting more dear to us with the ObamaCare fiasco and its pulling billions from the Medicare funds, and of course, the death panels.
We’ve got a great internist but we are looking toward our own responsibility toward our own health. That’s the whole reason for this.
Glad you find it new and interesting. Hope it’s all understandable.
